The design process

Initial consultation & design brief

I will initially visit you and your garden to discuss your requirements and what you would hope to achieve from your redesign. We will discuss how you would like to use the space, any design styles which you may like, as well as plants and materials. It is useful to have an idea of the budget you will have available at this stage.

Following this visit, I will write a design brief, which will specify a fixed cost for a layout plan and planting plans. If you are in agreement we will move onto the next stage.

Survey & drafts

A survey will then be carried out of the site. Unless the site is large or complex (such as having multiple level changes) I will carry out the survey myself.

Then I will get started on the design! At this stage I will share visuals and drafts with you to ensure you are happy with the direction I am taking the design.

Final design plan

A final design plan will be presented, including specifications of materials, structural plants and other features. This will act as a ‘masterplan’ and can be handed to a landscaper to cost and carry out the work. Dependent on the design, construction drawings may also be included.

Planting plan

Once the final design is complete, I will get to work on the planting plan. A maintenance schedule for the plants can also be provided, should this be required.
